Photoshop tutorial – glossy heart

In this tutorial, I will teach you how to create a glossy heart...
End result:
Step 1 The Setup
Create a new document, any size, I chose 1024x768 for quality. Create a new, empty layer and
delete the filled background layer.
Step 2 Creating a heart shape
Now it's time to create our shape. You can make your own with pen tool, but that's just complicating
it... Just choose "Custom shape" tool from the toolbar...
Pick a heart shape from the upper toolbar, and draw a heart on the center of the screen. Right click
the layer with shape and choose "Rasterize Layer" from the menu. That should give you a solid
heart shape like this:
Step 3 Beveling the shape
Right click this new layer, and choose "Blending options". Now I'll just give you what to write and
at which option. If you fail to understand what I tell you to, it pretty much proves you're too much
of a beginner. On the other hand, going through all the steps by now fluently proves you're sort of
intermediate =)
Bevel and Emboss:

Oh, also make gradient look like something like this:
Click OK and go to the next step.
Step 4 Glossy design
Make a new layer and put it at the top of the list. Hold CTRL and click on the "Shape 1" layer's
picture. That should add whole layer to our selection. Go to select/modify/contract and enter the
value like, let's say 10:
Now, pick "Elliptical Marquee" tool.
Hold Alt and make a selection circle up to half of the heart. Like:
That makes:
Pick up gradienting tool... It's time to gloss the picture!
Pick up white color and make a gradient like this:
Make a gradient that goes from bottom to the top of our heart:

That makes:
CTRL+D out of the selection, and make few new selections... Gradient those the similiar way you
did now. Always go from the outline of the heart to the center. Elliptical Marquee tool is your friend
now.
If you properly gradient, you should get something simillar to this:
This concludes the glossying part... I hope you catched everything I wrote you to do
Step 5 Embedding a "I love you" text <3
Switch to "Horizontal type tool":

Choose your font, click on an image, and write up a cute text. Modify it any way you like:
Right click the new layer that typing created and choose blending options again...
Bevel and Emboss:
Oh, btw... If you wonder where am I getting this numbers from, I'm doing it on-the-fly... Don't be stupid, suit your needs, shift a few numbers, take a break, sing a song, whatever you want. But never overdo it. By now your screen should look something like this:
CTRL+click the text layer to apply a selection. Change text layer's fill value to 0% (top of the layers panel). Move from that layer to your original heart layer named "Shape 1" on default... Just press Delete. By doing this, you make the text look embedded, and still have transparency in heart's center. You're done soon.
Step 6 Adding a background
Right click any layer and click on "Merge visible". This will merge all your layers without screwing up your effects. Make a new layer and put it on the bottom, that makes layer have the highest depth, appearing below other layers. Switch to gradient fill tool, and make a gradient of your choice. Pull it over the screen to make a background:
